The above five aspects constitute the core of the process of film making. You will be taken through the basics to the more advanced concepts in each of the core aspects of film making. Following that, there will be sessions on the other important aspects of film making all of which will ensure that you have a good grounding in this field. Our course is very intensive and hands on with live lectures and face to face interaction with the experts in each field.

- Hands-on-work with state-of-the-art Professional Cinematographic equipment and Editing software
- Movie theatre, Editing lab and Shooting floor are available.
- The course is designed to be in the format of practical classes. Apart from regular faculty members, National and International experts from the film industry will conduct classes in various subjects.
Duration of Course
- This is a regular course conducted on Monday to Friday over a period of 7 months
Qualifying Examinations
- Theory -1 Paper each (Film Direction, Screen play writing, Cinematography, Editing, Audiography, And Acting)
- Assessment of Practical classes.
- Each student must make a documentary, a music video and a 10 minute short film at the end of the course, and the project will be assessed by external examiners.
- These projects will be released through the OTT platform Roots Video and the Youtube channel of Roots Video
We would expect all our students to have completed at least Higher Secondary education or equivalent.
Higher qualifications are welcome.
We would also welcome people with work experience in addition to the above.
We are determined to make this course accessible to individuals who have special needs.

There will be a face-to-face interview held on the campus of CMS College, the date of which will be intimated to you in due course.
Course Fee
The fee for the course is Rs.95000+ GST as applicable, which should be paid in full at the time of enrollment.
Existing students of CMS college will pay Rs.85000+ GST as applicable, for this course.

The classrooms, lecture halls and tutor rooms at CMS College are fully furnished with state-of-the-art technology to be at par with the standards set by the world’s best institutes. CMS is a Fine Arts College with a brand new 100 seater Cinema Theatre with the latest in Audio-visual equipment.

Dr. Varghese C. Joshua is the Principal of CMS College.
Having completed his M.Sc, M.Phil and Ph.D from CUSAT, Varghese Joshua has been an integral part of the Faculty of Mathematics at CMS college for the past 25 years.
He has been guiding CMS College as Principal since 2020.
Dr Varghese Joshua has previously been Vice-Principal and Member of the Management & Governing Council at CMS College.
Dr Varghese is a regular speaker at many international conferences and has authored over 30 publications. He is on the Board of Studies in several colleges.
In addition to academics, Dr Varghese is a master chess enthusiast and an exemplary Quiz-master.
He has also scripted the documentary film ‘Legacy of CMS College’.

Jayarajan Rajasekharan Nair, professionally credited as Jayaraj, is an Indian filmmaker, who predominantly works in the Malayalam film industry.
Jayaraj is a recipient of the Crystal Bear Award at the Berlin International Film Festival, the Golden Peacock award at the IFFI , the Golden Crow Pheasant award at the IFFK , the FIPRESCI Award from the International Federation of Film Critics, the Don Quijote Award from the International Federation of Film Societies, The Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) award and a special mention award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. He is also a 9 time recipient of the National Film Award and several Kerala State Film Awards.
He is the founder of the Birds Club International and is actively involved in philanthropic work.

Pradeep Nair is an Indian film maker from Kerala. He is known for producing feature films and documentaries.
His feature film, Oridam has fetched him 9 awards including a National and a State award. Oridam is also selected to Indian Panorama and more than other 15 other International Film Festivals all over the world. This film also received a Special Jury Award for Direction in the 52nd National Film Awards of India and 5 awards in Direction, Best Actress, Music, Costume design and Film processing from the 35th Kerala State Film Awards.

Dr Asha Nair is a Director of Roots Video. She will be looking after Operations at JFC and is responsible for strategy.
Dr. Asha has been Consultant Paediatrician for many years in the UK and Dubai. She is associated with Pallium India, a Palliative care project and Amrithavarshini, an NGO for people with Brittle Bone Disease.
An accomplished dancer and classical musician, she is also passionate about Sanskrit and the ancient knowledge systems of India.

Kaviyoor Sivaprasad is a Malayalam film director, screenwriter and visiting faculty of Malayalam University and SJCC. He has also been instrumental in setting up courses for film making and media in several of the top institutes in the country.
His films have won State and National Awards.
